It's hard to put into words how, in such a short amount of time, something that didn't even exist can become such a huge part of your life + hold a huge part of your heart.
My job involves meeting the kindest of people, planning alongside them as they dream of their wedding day, and then finally being there to witness it and capture it all--from the quiet, nervous getting ready moments, to the first looks, the walks down the aisle, the tears, the laughter, and that moment when, after years of planning, you're finally announced as husband and wife. For a long time, I wondered how I could continue these relationships--I didn't want to just capture wedding days. I wanted to cheer on marriages. I support and encourage and love on my wedding clients as much as I could.
Mallory + I met up to plan our next beauty event, and we realized we both had the same thing weighing on our hearts. The same desire to celebrate and encourage not just our awesome brides, but our COUPLES. And we realized that, after the wedding day, there wasn't much out there photography-wise to support and encourage married couples to THRIVE in their marriages. And so, over steaming cups of coffee in a small, local coffee shop, our minds full of ideas and the desire to serve our couples, Beyond the Vows was born.
We held our first event in the spring of 2017 at Historic Shady Lane, + we really couldn't have asked for a better, more trusting group of couples to join us. With the first event being successful, we immediately started planning for a fall event, this time at the gorgeous Linwood Estate. We had couples in all stages of their marriages come out--from a couple who had only been married for a few months, to a couple who had been married for many years.
I can't even begin to express how appreciative I am of everyone who has supported this movement, and trusted us to capture their love in all of it's realness and rawness. What started out as a love-driven dream shared over coffee has become something truly special, + such a foundation for my business in general. A HUGE thank you to Mallory for being my partner in all of this. For dreaming alongside me--and not being afraid to dream BIG. There's no one else I'd rather do this with than you! And our incredible dream team--the girls behind the scenes who keep everything running smoothly and never let us settle for anything other than dreaming big! Bri, Lilly and Brooke, you ladies are absolute gems. Thank you to Historic Shady Lane + Linwood, for hosting an event that is so new, and believing in us and cheering us on in the process. We have seriously been so blessed so far. Thank you all for daring to go beyond the vows with us.
We invite you to come experience a photography session that will allow you to spend quiet time with your spouse, and remember why it was you said those wedding vows in the first place. We want you to remember holding hands, nervously speaking those words in front of your closest family and friends, as you pledged your lives to each other. We want you to feel those same butterflies in your stomach, the same tingles down your spine as you hear the words "husband and wife."
These sessions aren't about us. They aren't about fancy hair + makeup.
They are about you. They are about your marriage.
We want you to remember WHY you chose to vow your life to another, through good + bad, through mountains, through valleys. Through the difficulties that life throws your way, and through all of the joys that it brings. Through beautiful children, through life-altering loss, through birthdays, through fights, through seasons of uncertainty, through fits of laughter, through tender forehead kisses.
We invite you to come as you are, no matter what season of life you're in, and celebrate your marriage.
We invite you to join us in the #beyondthevowsmovement.
Stay tuned, friends, because we CANNOT WAIT to share with you what's coming next.
